FID is a NGO that works to reduce poverty and inequality by funding innovative ideas and using scientific evaluation to inform public policy. Our brief was to find a cost-effective way to get new ideas and bring them to life by engaging as many people as possible, from students to scientists.
Gathering new ideas, classifying them, and ranking their feasibility can be a tedious and costly process. To ensure impartiality and validity, the application should be reviewed by experts and all made in the same way for fairness. To ensure the best use of resources in large organizations with limited resources, streamlining the process of assigning the right experts to the right applications is key.
The solution was to design an ATS (applicant tracking system) that gives the freedom to tailor it to any call for proposals. We carefully examined every element of the process. From making contest creation easier with templates, to forming teams of experts on certain topics, and even setting up a data center to monitor activity. We also tested our mockups with different personnas to make sure we accounted for all possible scenarios.
